Memorial Day

I was disappointed first that it was raining. We went to the gym and then home and started some spaghetti for lunch. My friend Barry came over with "Aliens in the Attic," and we laughed so hard. Then we went on to watch "Iron Man." Then We played for at least and hour or two. We had the "Kung Fu Panda" swords out and light sabers as well. Then there were a couple of belts and maracas and plastic bowling pins. You could say we were very rowdy. Man, we were exhausted. We were so riled up that when we stopped it was 8:00 pm. So we had cereal and BBQ left overs from Saturday and Barry went on his way. I am so glad I was able to spend quality time with my kids laughing and smiling and wearing them out. Thank you to all those who served and serve our country so diligently and selflessly in order for us to practice the many freedoms we have. Oh my goodness!! I am so wiped out. Then I went onto facebook and saw a post a friend of mine put up. It was rather disappointing. Here it is:

It is a long held tradition for the U.S.President to lay a wreath in Arlington National Cemetery at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Memorial Day; but it won't happen this year. Our President Obama is taking a vacation to Chicago !!! Way to show respect to those who have given their life to protect this country !!

How insulting is it to all those who have died for us, for all of those who are still out fighting for us. This is a day to mourn the losses, yet we have turned this "holiday" into vacation time. How sad is it that not even out president can show support for the many who have died, become incapacitated and sacrificed so much for us. Thank you to all those who have and still do today. The Lord doe not forsake those who love and fight for Him. There are not enough words to say that can show our gratitude. I speak for my household and many others I am sure. God rest these "HEROES."

More From the Zoo

Here are more pics from the Zoo. There was so much color and life. JD touched one of the huge tortoises. I had to remind him that this was not a petting zoo. Then Lucas almost fell in to one of the exhibits. It was not funny but found myself laughing anyways. It was hot and it was sunny. Then after we got home,we all showered and went to a BBQ at my friends Kelly's & Michelle's cul-de-sac and had tons of fun. The kids were given sparklers and we even had some guys attempt to set off firecrackers. Good food, good friends, great times!!!!

The Columbia Zoo

We had so much fun!!! Its was hot as Hades, but it was a blast. We saw baboons, lions, snakes, flamingos and much more. Its a little under a two hour ride. We did really well. Even after I let Paulo walk too.

Summer, summer, summer!!

Boy are we excited. They extended our lease without any changes!!! We have a big summer ahead of us. We are going to Charleston on August 6th and 7th. No,I am not braving it on my own. Christine is coming down to help me manage and hopefully not lose anyone while we are there. I will be doing some painting since the kids have penciled the walls like you wouldn't imagine. It is nice to have a little craziness, but cannot wait for school to end. We are buying a slip'n'slide and I am still deciding if it a good idea. I am also planning to go to the Columbia Zoo. Its not huge, but I heard the kids love it. It right by the Columbia Temple. I am excited to go hiking with the kids as well on the weekends. Yay!!! I love summertime!

It rained, but I grilled in front of the back doors like Dad used to in the town home on West Side Drive.Had lots of fun with the kids and the in-laws. It reminds me of Fabiana's first birthday. It rained as well but was cold and grey all day.

An afternoon in the sprinkler!!

May 2,2010

Wow,what a crazy last few weeks. School has been very demanding and work has been very busy as well. The kids have been on edge as well. Hoping that with school ending soon we can all get a little break. Unfortunately I won't, but I will happy anyway to have longer nights with the kids and longer weekends. The kids are spending every other weekend with their dad and we are having tons of fun on our weekends. Fabiana is planning to have a sleepover for her birthday on the 14th. She will be turning 9 on May 18th. WOW!! Time flies! We have a lot planned this summer and are very excited. We might even get back up to West Virginia again. We'll see.
